I have joined the ranks of the Juicers.
Here is my story.
Over Christmas 2011, I happened upon a Netflix documentary called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.
I love to watch documentaries, so I gave it a try.
I couldn’t believe what I was watching. This is the story of a man who was morbidly obese and sick with an uncurable disease. Doctors couldn’t seem to help him.
His name is Joe Cross and he felt as if he was going to die.
He made a decision to try and fight his health issues through his diet and specifically, by going on a 60 day vegetable juice diet.
What followed was a complete transformation of Joe’s health and his body.
If you haven’t yet watched then documentary, I don’t want to give it all away by writing about it.
You owe it to yourself to watch this film.
Here is what happened after we watched this film.
My son started juicing and in a couple of weeks lost 15 lbs. My son has an athletic build and is muscular. He didn’t need to lose the weight but he reports to me that he feels much better.
As for myself, I can stand to lose 20 lbs. I had already cut my carb intake by 70% about 4 months ago because all of my pants were starting to fit too snug.
Juicing seemed to be healthy addition to my daily diet.
Breville Juice Fountain Plus
When I started vegetable and fruit juicing, I bought a Jack LaLaine juicer from Wal-Mart. It only lasted a week before it broke.
I decided to buy the same brand of juicer used in the documentary made by Breville. The Breville Juice Fountain Plus.
Check out my Breville Juice Fountain Plus review video.
After we used this juicer for the first time, I decided then that it’s probably the best juicer to buy. I want to save you the trouble of shopping and trying to decide.
The Breville just screams quality. Just buy one and you can thank me later.
The Juice Fountain Plus is affordable and it’s industrial strength. It is quality through and through.
If you have been considering making healthy changes to your lifestyle, you may want to give juicing a try.
My daily diet now consists of a protein shake in the morning along with my coffee. I juice at lunch.
In the evenings, I eat a normal meal.
This routine gives me a lot of energy in the afternoons. My pants are fitting better also.
I’ll give you more progress reports as time goes on.
If you are going to buy a juicer, don’t waste your time on the others. Go ahead and buy a Breville.

Steve,
How’s it going? I have a Breville, courtesy of my mom for Christmas
I was using another juicer my pastor’s wife gave us to use for the past few months. It was a very good juicer, but the motor was starting to wear out. The Breville is absolutely awesome! Mine has a 5 speed setting. I like the lower speed settings to help get more juice out of the leafy greens like mint, cilantro, etc., and the fast speed settings for the apples, ginger, and celery. Ironically, I just watched that documentary a couple days after my juicer came in the mail. It is worth watching for those who are undecided about juicing and getting healthy. It is on instant watch for those who have netflix.
I’ve lost 40 lbs juicing since the end of August (60 total), and my diabetes is under control, and I’m down to half a pill a day. I feel great. The best I’ve felt in years! There are so many recipes for juicing, you can come up with something new to try all the time. I think it has helped my Lyme disease, too. I was almost walking with a cane early in the summer.
I can definitely vouch for the juicer and it’s benefits. Exercise is important, too. I went from not exercising to swimming 1-1.5 miles 3-4 days a week (took me 3 months), and I cross country ski when I am not swimming.
Take care,
Medic
Hey Medic, great to hear from you again. Your juicing sounds like a major success. Yea, I’m telling everyone to watch Fat & Sick even if they don’t need to juice. You definitely sound like a walking success story to the benefits of juicing. Keep me posted and I’m glad you dropped in.
Hi Steve – You have such a knack for taking what could be pretty dry material – like juicing – and making it a pleasure to watch. Maybe it’s just my feeble mind, but I really like your deliberate pace in your videos, walking us step by step through the process or whatever it is you’re talking about. I’m glad you brought up the film and juicing – you’ve inspired me to dig out my juicer, dust it off and get back to it. Thanks. Maybe you could do a follow up video with a special recipe or two that you really like? The fellow above mentions ginger. Sounds delicious. Do you use it? Take care. And please keep the videos coming. They’re your strong suit.
Ken
Ken, it must be your feeble mind but thanks. That remark made my day. 2012 will be the year I make more videos. You will be asking me to stop most likely.
Medic mentioned ginger and yes, we use it also. Gives some extra flavor. Today I actually had fruit juices and no veggies. I think the veggies give me more energy though. Please let me know how your juicing goes.
Thanks again for your kind remarks. Now I have to figure out some interesting video subjects.
