If you make videos, there is a good chance that you have searched for free music for Youtube videos that avoids any copyright violations.

If you have uploaded a fair amount of videos, there is a good chance you have been slapped with a music copyright violation.

That has happened to me on a few occasions and once my entire account was threatened over a music copyright violation.

The funny thing about that particular video, was that it had been online for over a year before Youtube disabled the sound on the video.

I was sent a warning that if I had another violation in the next 6 months, that my Youtube account would be terminated.

Another twist to the story was about 6 months later, Youtube re-activated the same music on the video it had earlier disabled. It just left me scratching my head.

That whole episode sucked and it was then that I had to start paying closer attention to the material I use in my Youtube videos.

Recently, Youtube enabled revenue sharing on my Youtube account. Yep, I’m making some money every month on my Youtube videos.

Now more than ever, I have to be careful about all of the content I place in my videos.

I like to put ambient music in my videos and I’m always on the search for free music downloads, and royalty free music that the creator allows you to use in your projects.

A lot of creators release their music via creative commons. A lot of these producers simply ask for a credit in your work and I have no problem with that.

The World’s Most Simple Mobile Phone

I saw this on the Simple. Organized. Life. A mobile phone that allows you to talk and nothing else.

I like it and would be very tempted to try it. I’m actually using an “Old School” style flip phone now.

I gave up my iPhone ages ago.

I pretty much only talk now. Texting ability on these flip phones suck.

Probably the only other simple cell phone that I can think of would be the Jitterbug Cell Phone which is a simple cell phone for seniors or elderly people.

I even like the way they worded their ad copy. Who puts the word BS in their ad copy? Takes balls I say.

Sorry Mr. Jobs, I Only Needed Snow Leopard For A Couple Minutes

Here’s what I’ve been doing the last couple of days. Upgrading the operating systems on my 2 Macs to OSX Lion.

One is an older MacBookPro and one machine is a desktop iMac. The MacBookPro conversion was a challenge. The iMac was a piece of cake.

If you have a Mac running Snow Leopard, you automatically have access to the Apple App Store. It’s a very cool application for your computer. You can use the App Store to add free and paid Apps to your computer. You must have at least Snow Leopard for this feature.

My old MacBookPro was still running just plain old Leopard.

Here’s the trick, you must have Snow Leopard in able to upgrade to Lion. Snow Leopard is $29 and you you have to order it and receive a disc. I had no desire to order and pay $29 and then have to wait for it.

Literally, all I needed was to have Snow Leopard on my MacBookPro for 2 minutes so I could install the App Store and download OSX Lion.

What did I do? I grabbed a pirated free copy from the internet through a torrent.

I won’t go into all the technical details but to summarize, here is how I accomplished what I needed to do.

I downloaded a torrent application called uTorrent.

Then I went to Pirate Bay and downloaded a (free) copy of Snow Leopard.

Once downloaded, you must burn a DVD copy of the software in order to install it. The downloading, burning, re-installing etc. takes several hours just so you will know.

Once I had Snow Leopard on my MacBookPro, I immediately opened up the Apple App Store and downloaded the OSX Lion that I paid $29 for.

I only had Snow Leopard on my machine for 2 minutes max.

I’m sorry Mr. Jobs, I didn’t give you your $29 for Snow Leopard but I happily paid you for OSX Lion.

I will also happily pay you for all the future Apps and programs I download from the Apple App Store.

Last night I was on Amazon.com and I found an extra added benefit to having an Amazon account. Amazon gives you 5 GB of free storage for your files of any kind.

Go to Amazon and look at the left hand sidebar at the top of the page.

If you purchase music (mp3 files) from Amazon, they will automatically be stored in the cloud. You can access these files from any computer in the world with internet access.

Music purchased from Amazon will not go against your storage limit.

You can purchase additional storage from Amazon at what I consider bargain prices.

Below are the pricing plans for Amazon digital file storage in the cloud.

From what I could find on the site, it seems that if you purchase an album of music on Amazon, you will be eligible for a free upgrade to 20 GB of storage for one year.

All of your files are accessed by using your Amazon user ID and password.

If you have existing music on your computer, Amazon offers a convenient mp3 Uploader to get your music files uploaded into your account.

Seems like a great backup plan for your music in case your hard drive should crash.

JBL iPod Dock On Stage IIIP Review

This is the JBL iPod Dock On Stage IIIP Review.

Almost a month ago I wrote about this iPod Dock being offered by Amazon at a pretty good savings.

I was looking for a good iPod docking station at the time, so I ordered it.

I have been extremely pleased with it. I wanted an iPod dock that gave great sound but was small enough to pack into a suitcase and travel with.

I needed an iPod docking station that was stylish and looked good on my desk or nightstand. The JBL Stage IIIP is perfect for what I was looking for.

The JBL iPod dock has a low profile and is about the size of a man’s hand.

It will run on AC power or 6 AA batteries.

It will fit nicely between your clothes if you want to take your music with you when you travel.

If you like to play music on an mp3 device, this ipod speaker dock is probably what you are looking for. It looks good and the sound it outputs is nothing short of amazing. You could easily put this on a coffee table and throw a party at your house using using this JBL dock.

I honestly can’t think of any drawbacks at this time. It has worked perfectly for what I bought it for.

This dock also comes with a small remote control.

I carried it with me on a 10 day trip sleeping in motels.

I loaded some relaxation music and looped it all night long to cut out the usual motel noise.

I’m sure that this iPod dock would compare to other similar models, but I love the size and style. It looks good sitting anywhere.

Craigslist Mobile App For iPhone

It seems lately, I’ve been on a Craigslist tear. The fact is I like Craigslist a lot and I use it a lot. It’s one of those sites that I check every day. I wanted to tell you about a Craigslist App for iPhones I found that you may find useful.

I actually didn’t know that a Craigslist Mobile App existed until today when someone responded to one of my Craigslist ads and they responded from their iPhone and this App.

I got this notice in my e-mail this morning. It perked my interest.

A quick post today to alert you to some big savings. The JBL On Stage IIIP Portable Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone. I’m ordering one for myself today.

You also probably get e-mails everyday from Amazon. I usually ignore, but this morning I paid attention because I have been looking for a good iPod dock for my bedroom. 10 Tips For Setting Up Your Home Office

When you decide to work from home, the first thing that must be dealt with is your home office. You need to create a space that will work for your new work-from-home situation. For the average employee, creating a home office can seem intimidating and overwhelming.

Fortunately, with a little planning, designing your home office can not only be enjoyable, but can provide a great opportunity to design your workspace and time so that you truly come to love your job. By keeping these ten tips in mind, you will have a good time creating your home office and will enjoy working from home.

1) How Do You Work Best?

First you should define your work style and job requirements. Decide how, when, and where you work best‚ do you need your office to be in a quiet corner somewhere? If you prefer to work in a solid five or six-hour block of time, be prepared to design an office with a locking door. If you work best in short bursts of productivity, you can probably get away with an office in your bedroom or set up in a corner of a room somewhere. Taking a good look at your work style can help you set up an office that truly works for you.

2) Electronics

Decide right away what electronics are actually necessary to accomplishing your job requirements. Do you need a fax machine, or is email sufficient? You will probably need a good computer no matter what you do, so that may be something worth splurging on. Is a printer good enough, or do you need a copier/scanner/printer? What are you using for a phone? Don’t forget to pick up a few surge protectors and extension cords if necessary.

3) Organization

You will probably need to invest in some organization items. You will need something to hold pens, and some assorted bins or shelves for papers. These don’t need to be expensive‚ they just need to work for you. Decide how you want to organize your office and then go about making it happen, whether by buying new things to help you or by designing a system that uses what you have.

4) Storage

You will need some sort of storage system now that you are working from home. Aside from the normal paperwork and things you need, you will also want to be sure you have some way of saving any work-related emails or other documents. If you are using a computer, this may mean investing in an external hard drive. For paper storage, keep your storage somewhere else. In the case of fire or flood this will keep them safe.

5) Lighting

Poor lighting will make you tired as you work, so buy a few good lamps or set your office up in an area with plenty of natural light (all the time‚ not just in the morning or summertime).

6) Furniture

You will want to be surrounded by furniture that serves its purpose well. Buy a desk that works for you, and a chair that will support your back. If you are meeting clients, buy some nice chairs or couches for them to sit on as well.

7) Decor

Your home office is the one place you get to decorate exactly as you would like. Decorate with what you like to be surrounded with. If you like a certain style of art, go for it. If you prefer your kid’s pictures, put them on the walls. If you like music, put a stereo in or buy some nice computer speakers. As long as you are still productive, have a little fun decorating your office. It can be a real emotional lift to update the look of your home office.

Space

Realistically, not every home has extra space to use for an office. But you can still make your office ‚ your space‚ by setting up well-defined rules and ensuring they aren’t broken. No matter the size of your office, a good design and functional workspace will help it feel bigger than it is. A door that closes can also help it truly feel like your space.

9) Distractions

The hardest part about working from home is being distracted‚ whether by family, food, the television in the room next to you, or whatever it is. So take care of distractions first. Get food and water if you find yourself popping out of your chair for a snack every ten minutes. If looking out the window preoccupies you, draw the curtains or blinds. Do what it takes to really get down to work and accomplish your goals for the day. Reward yourself with some of the things you have avoided while working.

10) State of Mind

The most important thing in setting up your home office is getting into the proper state of mind. You can work in a large group in your living room if you are properly focused. Set up your office to work for you, and then go to work. You will find it will be a very enjoyable experience when you have a space that helps you get into the right frame of mind.
