I recently upgraded one of my WordPress sites to version 3.3.1 and immediately discovered a problem with the update.

The “link” button inside my WordPress editor did not work.

When I would highlight my text that I wanted to add a hyperlink to, nothing happened.

This was aggravating to say the least.

I found a solution to the problem and maybe this will help you also in case you find your WordPress editor not working properly after an upgrade.

Honestly, I’m not exactly sure which step fixed the problem of my link button not working in the editor so I recommend that you try what I did.

You can try these steps in no particular order to see what works for you.

I don’t think there is a right way or wrong way.

Got to your WordPress dashboard and click “updates.”

Re-install your version of WordPress. It only takes a few moments.

Now, go to a “new post” and check to see if the link button will work now.

If it works, you are done. If not, keep going.

In my case, I’m using the Google Chrome Browser. I want you to clear your browser of cookies and browsing history.

This next step may get rid of junk and bad code residing inside your browser which may be causing the problem.

In Chrome, at the top right, click the wrench icon.

Next, go to “under the hood.” Click, “clear browsing data.”

Check “empty the cache” and “delete cookies.”

Select “from the beginning of time.”

Once that is complete. It would be a good idea to log out of WordPress and log back in.

Go back to your WordPress dashboard and go to a new post to test the link button.

I have a sneaky suspicion that it will work for you now.
<!--

Probably the only other simple cell phone that I can think of would be the Jitterbug Cell Phone which is a simple cell phone for seniors or elderly people.

I even like the way they worded their ad copy. Who puts the word BS in their ad copy? Takes balls I say.

Here’s what I’ve been doing the last couple of days. Upgrading the operating systems on my 2 Macs to OSX Lion.

One is an older MacBookPro and one machine is a desktop iMac. The MacBookPro conversion was a challenge. The iMac was a piece of cake.

If you have a Mac running Snow Leopard, you automatically have access to the Apple App Store. It’s a very cool application for your computer. You can use the App Store to add free and paid Apps to your computer. You must have at least Snow Leopard for this feature.

My old MacBookPro was still running just plain old Leopard.

Here’s the trick, you must have Snow Leopard in able to upgrade to Lion. Snow Leopard is $29 and you you have to order it and receive a disc. I had no desire to order and pay $29 and then have to wait for it.

Literally, all I needed was to have Snow Leopard on my MacBookPro for 2 minutes so I could install the App Store and download OSX Lion.

What did I do? I grabbed a pirated free copy from the internet through a torrent.

I won’t go into all the technical details but to summarize, here is how I accomplished what I needed to do.

I downloaded a torrent application called <a target="_blank" href="http://www.utorrent.com/"rel="nofollow" and target="_blank">uTorrent.

Then I went to <a target="_blank" href="http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/6556099/Mac_Os_Snow_Leopard_install_dvd_original_dmg/"rel="nofollow" and target="_blank">Pirate Bay and downloaded a (free) copy of Snow Leopard.

Once downloaded, you must burn a DVD copy of the software in order to install it. The downloading, burning, re-installing etc. takes several hours just so you will know.

Once I had Snow Leopard on my MacBookPro, I immediately opened up the Apple App Store and downloaded the OSX Lion that I paid $29 for.

I only had Snow Leopard on my machine for 2 minutes max.

I’m sorry Mr. Jobs, I didn’t give you your $29 for Snow Leopard but I happily paid you for OSX Lion.

I will also happily pay you for all the future Apps and programs I download from the Apple App Store.
<!--

Go to Amazon and look at the left hand sidebar at the top of the page.

If you purchase music (mp3 files) from Amazon, they will automatically be stored in the cloud. You can access these files from any computer in the world with internet access.

Music purchased from Amazon will not go against your storage limit.

You can purchase additional storage from Amazon at what I consider bargain prices.

Below are the pricing plans for Amazon digital file storage in the cloud.

From what I could find on the site, it seems that if you purchase an album of music on Amazon, you will be eligible for a free upgrade to 20 GB of storage for one year.

All of your files are accessed by using your Amazon user ID and password.

If you have existing music on your computer, Amazon offers a convenient mp3 Uploader to get your music files uploaded into your account.

Seems like a great backup plan for your music in case your hard drive should crash.

This is the JBL iPod Dock On Stage IIIP Review.

Almost a month ago I wrote about this iPod Dock being offered by Amazon at a pretty good savings.

I was looking for a good iPod docking station at the time, so I ordered it.

I have been extremely pleased with it. I wanted an iPod dock that gave great sound but was small enough to pack into a suitcase and travel with.

I needed an iPod docking station that was stylish and looked good on my desk or nightstand. The JBL Stage IIIP is perfect for what I was looking for.

The JBL iPod dock has a low profile and is about the size of a man’s hand.

It will run on AC power or 6 AA batteries.

It will fit nicely between your clothes if you want to take your music with you when you travel.

If you like to play music on an mp3 device, this ipod speaker dock is probably what you are looking for. It looks good and the sound it outputs is nothing short of amazing. You could easily put this on a coffee table and throw a party at your house using using this JBL dock.

I honestly can’t think of any drawbacks at this time. It has worked perfectly for what I bought it for.

This dock also comes with a small remote control.

I carried it with me on a 10 day trip sleeping in motels.

I loaded some relaxation music and looped it all night long to cut out the usual motel noise.

I’m sure that this iPod dock would compare to other similar models, but I love the size and style. The jbl docking appliance looks good sitting anywhere.

Below you can check out the current pricing on Amazon and read more reviews to see if you think the JBL On Stage IIIP is right for you. Amazon has a lot of different docking stations to choose and you can also read all of their customer reviews.

**Update** I have owned this JBL iPod Dock now for several months and I couldn’t do without it now. One of the best uses for it is to play relaxation music in the background while I work and also to help my Grandson to sleep when he comes over. If you need speakers for your iPod, this is a great selection.

It seems lately, I’ve been on a Craigslist tear. The fact is I like Craigslist a lot and I use it a lot. It’s one of those sites that I check every day. I wanted to tell you about a <a target="_blank" href="http://www.escargotstudios.com/craigspro/"rel="nofollow" and target="_blank">Craigslist App for iPhones I found that you may find useful.

It’s called the CraigsPro+ iPhone Craigslist browser with Search Notifications.

<a target="_blank" href="http://itunes.apple.com/app/id332324766?mt=8/"rel="nofollow" and target="_blank">CraigsPro+ is available in the iTunes Store for $1.99.

I actually didn’t know that a Craigslist Mobile App existed until today when someone responded to one of my Craigslist ads and they responded from their iPhone and this App.

If you are a Craigslist Junkie like I am becoming, you can give it a look.

A quick post today to alert you to some big savings. The JBL On Stage IIIP Portable Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone. I’m ordering one for myself today.

You also probably get e-mails everyday from Amazon. I usually ignore, but this morning I paid attention because I have been looking for a good iPod dock for my bedroom. I don’t always sleep very good and I have a play-list of relaxation music on my iPod. When I saw it was a 65% discount, I checked it out.

The reviews for the jbl on stage looked good to me. Even if it totally sucks, I can afford the $60. I was in Best Buy last week looking and the decent iPod Docks were near $100. I walked out because I thought that was ridiculous. If you need one for yourself, here you go.

**Update** I bought the JBL iPod Dock and I love it. Check out my updated video review. JBL iPod Dock On Stage IIIP Review.

The following is a guest post from Wendy Card, a hyperlocal community website builder in New Bern, NC. Wendy has found local success with a brilliant blend of old media (print) and and new media and has become a media force force in her local community. I invited Wendy to share her story here on Bloggerlens and she graciously accepted. If you are involved in building a local media presence, you will especially enjoy the following article. Wendy understands how to build a community.

New Bern Now, based in New Bern, NC is a community (hyperlocal blog) website and blog that went live in May 2009. My goal was to provide a “One Stop, Information Shop” about the Greater New Bern, NC area!

New Bern, NC is located in Craven County, NC and sits on the bank of the Neuse River. The river empties into the Pamlico Sound in coastal NC.

Starting my site
After conversing with a local merchant and learning how expensive it was for businesses to advertise locally, I decided to create a community website to provide free local business listings during the difficult economic times.

In December 2008, I bought a book on HTML/CSS for dummies and went to work researching local information and creating the community website. I had no idea this small city of approximately 30,000 residents had so much to offer. It took 6 months to build from HTML.

As a free website, there were no plans for charging for advertising. It was truly a “grassroots effort” to spread the word. I credit local New Bernians and visitors who stumbled across NBN for sharing it with their friends.

In the early stages, I was frustrated with the low number of visitors when I checked the daily website and blog statistics. Then the emails and phone calls started to come in. People began sharing information about their community groups, civic organizations, non-profit agencies, businesses, and before I knew it a large calendar of events began to take shape.

Local residents are the backbone to NBN. Without their input, NBN wouldn’t have succeeded. Since then, I’ve met people from all walks of life.

The website and blog have developed into our “Community’s website” aka “hyperlocal website”.

In February 2010, I finally met my first supporter and confidant in person. She is a native New Bernian, retired school teacher, philanthropist, and wonderful lady! She expressed the need for a New Bern publication that provided basic information about dining, shopping, lodging, community announcements, and calendar of events.

I loved the idea and considered the costs, then decided to “go for it”. That’s when the NBN’s 12 page newsletter was published in April 2010. 1,000 hardcopies were distributed at the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport and numerous businesses around town.

How did you actually distribute those first 1000 copies?

(Wendy)…I sent emails to all of my business and non-profit contacts and people responded asking to be distribution points. I also walked into businesses who didn’t know they were featured in the newsletter and were happy to give some to their customers. I decided to print more in May because local businesses were asking for more copies. Since it was New Bern’s 300th Anniversary Celebration, a lot of the visitors and residents wanted hardcopies as souvenirs.

Two weeks later, people were asking for more hardcopies. The newsletter was revised and 1,000 more hardcopies were distributed in May 2010. Note: NBN’s newsletter is available online in color. The second edition was published in July 2010 and 3,000 hardcopies were distributed.

Realizing I couldn’t continue to pay for printing costs out of pocket, a handful of local businesses paid for “text ads” in the July and October 2010 edition. When I started the newsletter project, I didn’t realize it would succeed, so I didn’t have an advertising plan.

Tell me about your decision to start charging for ads in the newsletter.

(Wendy)…In July and October, I charged the sponsors $150 for text ad at the bottom of the pages. The text ads were paid by business owners who I personally knew. They believed in the newsletter and just wanted to help out with the costs. It helped, but didn’t cover all of the costs. Then a friend gave me advice and I created an advertising kit for January 2011’s Ledger. The smallest ads costs $75 and the largest was $150 (2 small ads combined). I also offered a discount for online advertisements for businesses who advertised in the Ledger. That helped boost the funding!

After much thought, guidance from local residents, and the creation of an advertising kit, New Bern Now’s Ledger was born in January 2011. It was the first edition with the printing costs paid by local businesses. My online traffic peaks every time new print editions go live.

Click here to view my very first New Bern Now Ledger.

Things have come full circle and the community (and visitors) are viewing and providing information to NBN on a regular basis. Special thanks to all who have supported New Bern Now!

I have discovered that the community loves videos, so I have started shooting local video. Here is a video I shot with the help of local merchants.

What advice would you give to those who would like to build a community website where they live?

(Wendy) …My advice to other hyperlocal bloggers or website folks…if I don’t learn something new every day, I’m not living!

If you ask locals about their passions, civic groups, and businesses, they become invested in what you’re doing because you actually care and some people love to see their name or business on the Internet.

They tell their friends, coworkers, and family about your efforts because they believe in it.

- Wendy Card

Side note: I recently had the privilege of visiting New Bern and fell in love with this town on the river. My wife and I spent the afternoon walking the downtown, visiting the shops and eating some awesome food. You could feel the history and we were made to feel very welcome by everyone we met. I was very happy to find Wendy making such a positive impact on this community we fell in love with. Have you considered building a community blog and making a difference in your town?
<!--
