Grab Your Free Hyperlocal Blog Web Domain Name

This article is a followup from my last where we talked about getting your own hyperlocal domain name. I gave this some thought and I would like to recommend that you do a little additional work. The good thing is that what I’m going to ask you to do is FREE! I don’t know about you, but me and free get along great. Make FREE your friend and you will be better off for it.

I think it’s a good idea to head on over to the free Google blogging platform and secure your free hyperlocal, “blogger blog“. That was a blogging mouthful. This is Google’s free blog platform that they offer to you so you should take advantage of it. In my case, since my hyperlocal blog domain name is monroescoop.com, I chose monroescoop.blogspot.com as my free blogger blog. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure exactly yet how I will use this free blog but I want to make sure that it will be there for me if and when I decide to use it. I may use this site to help build links to the flagship. Incoming links are very good to your blog and this will give you an opportunity to build links for your site.

Another reason for for securing your free blogger blog could be to prevent someone else to take advantage of the good name you are building for your hyperlocal community site. I really do not want anyone else building a Monroe Scoop and taking advantage of the name. So why not grab a freebie that contains the name of your site in the url? Exactly, there is no reason not to, so go ahead on over to blogger after you finish reading this awesome article while the thought is fresh in your mind. While you are at it, if there are more than one of those little communities in your geographical area, grab those while you’re at it. I do realize that I cannot prevent every possible variation of my hyperlocal name in every url. It would be crazy to think so. I will however grab the free ones and you should too. Don’t forget to check on your own name while you are there. Gertrude Von Fredericksburg is probably available, John Smith is probably not.

All you have to have to sign up for a free Google Blogger Blog, is a valid e-mail address. Google does not limit you to the number of free blogger blogs that you can register under one e-mail address. You can read on the internet from all of the SEO Gurus that they will recommend that you have no more than 5-10 free Google blogs under a single e-mail address. I can’t confirm this since I do not work at Google. It does however make sense to me after I have read the reasons behind it. Go ahead, grab a few free blogger blogs with your preferred keywords in the url. We’ll find ways to use it as we build our sites.

  • Steve, this is an excellent idea that hadn’t occurred to me. I’d already secured such names as regular .com domains, and thanks to your tip, I’ve now completed securing the same names as Google blogs. Thanks!
