More Marketing Tips For Your Hyperlocal Blog

by Steve Sherron on July 18, 2009

I’m always looking for ways to market my hyperlocal blog in my community. I’m a simple man or at least I try to be and I love simple ways of doing things. Simple just strikes me as being effective. Today I would like to show you the latest thing I’m doing to market my website. Each and every one of you can do this. It’s simple and cheap. Once you are done, it’s also free advertising within your community. This was especially cheap for me. It was a gift from my daughter for Fathers Day.

I must ask you what is better? Having 10,000 followers on Twitter who do not have a clue as to who you are? Or having 10 people in your town become subscribers to your hyperlocal blog because they saw your site while at the grocery store? I’ll leave that answer to you.

I had a little fun with this video. I hope you enjoy it.

Marketing Tips For Your Hyperlocal Blog

Update: I’ve been asked where the graphics came from. I called my daughter and here is the website. Jazzy Graphics. Cheap too. It appears it was only $5 plush shipping. Goof thing she also got me a Costco Gift Card or else the Old Man would have had to have a talk with her about being so gift frugal.

Here is another article I wrote specifically with marketing ideas for your Hyperlocal Blog.

@Steve I've never seen anything like that, pretty cool. Knowing me, I would scroll something bad on it if someone ticked me off.

    Hey Steve,

Here's another idea: Do a search on eBay for this item, scrolling license plate frame.

I'd like to see your video on installing and displaying that.

@Leslie Here is the site, http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7029521. I also posted a link in the article.

@Allyn Thanks Buddy. You mean I have to calm down in traffic? No Way!

@Steve Hey man, the link to the site is in the article now.

    Steve,

Despite the "cheesy" music (or perhaps, because of the cheesy music:) I really enjoyed your video. I too would love to learn where you daughter got the lettering.

A quick search brought this up which says it will last 5 years under outside exposure:

  • Steve,
as always man, awesome tips wrapped up in a freaking hilarious vid. Work it big man, work it! LOL
And I was just about to scroll down to comments and tell you to fix the missing "dot" and there you were with it!
Seriously, though, this is the perfect advertisement for your hyper local... just don't use the middle finger if someone cuts you off in traffic anymore! LOL

@Steve. You know, I don't even know. My daughter bought it online somewhere and I didn't think to ask.

    Hey, that's great!

Where did you get the sticky lettering?
