Over time, I have discovered that people better understand when I tell them I build community websites instead of explaining I am a hyperlocal blogger. I usually get that deer in the headlight look when I mention “hyperlocal”. For all of us involved in this type of media, we know exactly what the term means. Establishing yourself as part of the local media has it’s personal advantages. As time has progressed for me and my hyperlocal blogging efforts, I’m able to do things now, that a year and a half ago would not have been possible.
