The Dark Side Of Social Media, Miami Vice Style.

by Steve Sherron on September 3, 2009

The following video is the unfortunate result of too many beers and a silly idea. I should have been a good little soldier and sat at my computer re-tweeting the A-listers. I should have been on Facebook engaging my network. I should have been increasing the number of people I follow on Twitter. Yea right. A lot of good that will do you.

Instead, I sat drinking at my computer with my video editing software begging me to do something useless, trivial and of no value to the human race. Here is the result. I completely understand if anyone asks if I ever rode the short school bus wearing a helmet.

I imagined what it would have been like in the 80’s if we had Social Media back then. Don Johnson would have been the King of Social Media.

  • That is really funny! You and Ally are IM comedians!
  • ssherron
    @Denise Thank you so much.

@Master Dayton I never thought being so useless would be so much fun!
  • That's absolutely freaking hilarious! Thank you for not doing something useful, and for listening to the part of you that was begging to use the video editing software! Well done!
  • Denise
Oh My God! This is totally hilarious. :-)

Definitely re-tweeted this one for sure.
  • @ssherron
No, I didn't, but let me check, nops, the re-tweet reads "RT @hyperlocalblog A really touchy, feely blog » The Dark Side Of Social Media, Miami Vice Style. http://bit.ly/yJXnc" but that would have been an idea ;-) SY
  • seriously man, that was hilarious, and you did a pretty good voice-over too. I will re-tweet that one for sure, lol
you need to put up a link to that software that you use to rip those vids like that too, I'd be interested in getting it.

@hospitalera You didn't re-tweet me as @gaydude did you? Lol!
  • ssherron
@Monika Thank you! How do I do it? Beer...more beer...and then more beer. Combine that with a little too much time on my hands and voila, a goofy video. Thanks for stopping by, I'm glad I found your site through Lis also.
  • Hi Steve,

I had to follow the lure of checking up on my new bro. That video is seriously creative and so damn hilarious. How do you do this? I used to watch Miami Vice as a kid, actually I had a crush on slimy Don (can you believe that), hahaha...seeing the video reminded me on those old days and yet you made it ten times better than it ever was back then. :)
  • Re-tweeting as we speak ;-) SY
  • Not sure... was I the "gay dude"? Lmao... gotta go back and watch that again!
  • ssherron
Ha! No, no, not the @Gaydude. It was your stunt double because no one can find actual footage of you. We are all looking for photos or video but you are too elusive. I may have to find other clips where you have used other stunt doubles to protect your privacy. Thanks for stopping by Griz!
  • This is just fucking hilarious - I am old enough to remember Miami Vice! This is the funniest episode ever - I am off to retweet it!
  • ssherron
Thanks Lis. Hey I was reading your blog article on your Thesis upgrade when this came in. Let me approve this comment and it's back to your blog I go to read some more...
  • LMFO HA, that was pretty funny. The dialog was a bit jumpy but the logos and twitter handles were hilarious. Well done. That is how you get retweeted to a bunch of people never to buy your stuff. You sure do love Don Johnson.
  • ssherron
@Josh There was quite a lot of beer consumed during the process and very little attention to the editing detail. You are not old enough to remember the glory days of Miami Vice. Every guy wanted to be him. Those were the glory days.
