You Are Not My Facebook Friend

by Steve Sherron on January 7, 2010

no-facebook1I like to use my personal Facebook for friends and people I actually know and have some sort of relationship with. I’ve not met everyone that I’m friends with but there is some sort of connection usually. I do not friend everyone who friends me either. On my personal Facebook I may post some photos of my family and Grandson and I don’t want everyone seeing them.

Some people don’t get it. Below is a recent Facebook message sent to me from a supposed friend. Notice I received her sales pitch and an invitation to view her website. She finally asked how I’ve been.

She could care less how I’ve been that’s obvious. I wonder how many of her other friends were pounded with the same message. I will have to un-friend her now and it’s too bad. She is a shallow, uncaring person hawking her products on me. I wouldn’t buy a piece of jewelry from her if she was the last salesperson on the face of the earth.

What would you do? Do you consider this acceptable from your friends on your personal Facebook page?

“Dont forget I am selling Lia Sophia Jewelry now and your wife would love some for Valentine’s Day. Check out the website and let me know what you think. Great sales! How have you been?

  • WTF is farmville anyways - yeah don't answer that! I have exactly the same problem Allyn - I have an unholy mixture of "real" live friends and IM buddies on Facebook - I really don't know how to split it out - its great for the theoretical person who is intersted in dance and IM - but I don't think I have met them yet LOL
  • This has become an interesting issue for me as well. At first, my facebook was only for family and real world friends past and present.
Now, however, many others have "friended" me. Thanks be to facebook for the "remove from my friend requests" feature. now, i don't actually have to reject someone, I can just not answer, LOL
BTW-- the most annoying thing are those people that ask me for farmville help. I HATE that!
  • Jessie
Don't worry about me being your friend. I don't have a Facebook or Twitter account. I'm too busy making money for that shit.

I hear you Jess, your priorities are probably set more correctly than most my friend. I have one less as of today.

Now don't be messing with me acting like we aren't Facebook friends. You better go check your list. We've been FF's for a while. Somehow, what I just wrote makes me feel like a teenage girl.
  • Ha, yeah "you're doing it wrong" comes to mind. Sounds like she really was a friend. I know of people constantly rejecting those trying to friend people. Its almost like a game. How many times can I reject this person before they figure it out. Speaking of which when are you going to accept my invitation...?
